When the Brazilian Navy needed to reduce the BRL 6 million (US$3 million) spent annually to keep their mainframe operational, they chose an HP- and Oracle®-based distributed platform as an alternative to the mainframe environment. Costs have been reduced by approximately 80% vs. mainframe database software costs.
